Celebtation of World HIV/AIDS Day in Pokhara |

1, 2011 (Pokhara, Kaski) Alternatives, Y-Peer and Suryodhaya Youth Club
today jointly organized interaction program and candle light in the memory of HIV/AIDS victims on the occasion of World HIV/AIDS Day 2011.
The
program was under the joint campaign of three organizations adopting a
multi-sectoral approach and targeting people from different walks of
life. However, the main focus of the campaign is youth, which is one of
the most important vulnerable groups in Nepal. The campaign stimulate
community dialogue, create awareness and increase knowledge of the
general population, promote preventive and care seeking behaviors and
reduce stigma and discrimination towards people living with HIV &
AIDS (PLHIV).
Prakash Tripathi, Youth Member, Family Planning Association as a resource
person on the interaction “Let’s talk about safe sex” presented issues
on HIV/AIDS, stigma and interacted with youth about different issues of
HIV/AIDS on question answer session. Nanu Regmi, Member, Y-Peer gave the brief history and present statistics of HIV/AIDS in Nepal. On the program, Mr. Samundra Paudel, Founder/President of Alternatives thanks all the participants and The interaction program was hosted by the Nisha Bhandari Secretary of Sarbodhaya Youth Club.
On
the second phase of program, Mr. Shiva Poudel, Ritman Gurung and
Santosh Koirala, Program Officers of Alternatives coordinated the candle
light and a moment of silence for those affected by HIV/AIDS. |
